Katrina Andrea Carlson
June 21, 1959 – May 7, 2021
Katrina (Trina) was born on Father’s Day, in Seattle to Ray and Nancy Schweigert. The family moved to Bremerton in 1961. She graduated from Bremerton High School in 1977 and soon after began a long career in banking, retiring in 2012.
Trina met the love of her life John E Carlson, on Valentine’s day 1977 and where married May 12, 1978. They raised two sons, John C. and Kevin, two of her greatest joys. The boys where raised in a family home on Kitsap Lake. She always kept her door open to all family and friends for great summers on the lake. She taught her sons to snow ski at a very young age and spent most of her winters in the mountains chasing them around.
John and Trina then built a home on Phinney Bay near the Bremerton Yacht Club and spent years cruising the local waters, San Juan Islands, and Lake Washington for Seafair and many for other events. She spent many years involved with the Bremerton Yacht Club, always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved being a part of the Dockettes. She loved boating with her Bremerton Yacht club friends.
Trina loved to go crabbing with her sons and grandchildren. She could crack crab for hours with the kids. She was also a great cook and had many family loved recipes. She had a special bond with the grandchildren sharing cooking. One very young grandson was quoted “if you can make a roux, you can do anything!”
Trina’s love for family extended to her friends. She hosted pre-Christmas craft party for countless years that started out as a cookie exchange forty years ago and just grew and grew becoming more sophisticated as years went on. There are probably some wine bottle lamps and cork wreathes still around town.
Trina’s love for her family and friends was contagious. She was always so full of life and her smile and laugh will be missed. Her hugs that nobody could complete with, will surely leave a void.
Trina is preceded in death by her father, Ray, sister Kerry, and grandson Nolan. Her memories will be carried on by her husband John, sons John C, Kevin(Dayna), Grandchildren Brayden, Gavin, Blake, Kayden, and Caleb. Her mother Nancy, sister Kris, nieces Brittany, Emily, nephews Zack and Alex.
