Samuel Reid

February 26, 1928 - August 28, 1907

Samuel Reid, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 28, with his wife at his bedside. Sam was born in 1928 and lived most of his life in Tacoma. He attended Lowell, Mason, and Stadium schools. Sam spent 18 months in the army in Korea, went on to graduate from U.W., and later earned a Master?s degree from USC. Sam worked for Boeing for 16 years, and then for the State of Washington for 15 years. He was a member of the Clan Gordon Pipe Band, Seattle Professional Engineers, a past member of the Tacoma Tennis Club, and was active in both St. Luke?s and St. Peter?s churches. Sam is survived by his wife of 56 years, Olive, his son Tad (wife Madonna), his daughter Courtney (husband Doug), grandsons Bryce and Cameron, sister Janeth, and many nieces and nephews. Sam was a mentor to many young adults and teens through Sunday school classes, bagpipe lessons, and apprentices. He will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit and willingness to help others. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke?s Memorial Church on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 3 P.M.
