January 1, 1953 - August 18, 2021
His light shone on me… Ross J Vernieuwe’s light began shining on January, 1, 1953, as the only child of Afton (Anderson) and Jay, in Washington Terrace, UT. His family moved to the Lakewood/Puyallup area when Ross was a youngster where he met Dave Bielman, his life-long friend.
Ross and Dave ran a sound engineering business for venues including the Puyallup Fair. He retired from Pierce County Parks & Recreation as a Maintenance Technician/Electrician, mainly working at Sprinker Recreation Center. Ross could figure out how to fix or improve anything and he was often called upon to fix computers and gadgets for friends and family.
He was a generous man with a wicked sense of humor and inquisitive mind, who was loved by his Utah family, Ardith’s family, and life-long friends. He enjoyed music, technology, science, road-trips, and doting on his cats. His interests included geologic & astrological events – for the 2017 solar eclipse, he took his wife to Utah to watch, in the darkest area of totality, and then, visit family.
On the morning of August 18, his light and love transitioned to the next sound stage surrounded by the care of those he loved. He is survived by his wife, Ardith (Walley), Dave, his Aunt Norma, cousins Sherel and his stepchildren, Craig & Jerilyn.
