Richard Edward Pease Sr.

October 8, 1917 - July 4, 2007

Dick was a lifelong resident of Tacoma, born October 8, 1917, the third of three sons born to parents Jean(Holgate)Pease and Vance N. Pease. He died following a brief illness on July 4, 2007 ,at the age of 89.

In 1937 Dick graduated from Stadium High School, where he demonstrated his sports talents in swimming, baseball, and basketball. He marreied June Dobson(now deceased) in 1941 and began a career working for the U.S. Postal Service, from which he retired in 1973. His post Office career was interrupted during WWII, when he joined the Army, serving in the Burma Theater.

An avid sports enthusiast, Dick coached youth and Adult baseball and softball teams.He officated soltball,baseball,basketball,and football at all age levels. For nearly 40 years Dick was the Official scorekeeper for the Class B and later the Class A basketball tournaments held at UPS and the Tacoma Dome-never missing a game!

In 2002 Dick was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Baseball-Softball Old-Timers Associateion. He recieved the Dill Howell Award, which is one the highest honors bestowed on old-timers.

Dick married Elizabeth(Betty)Orr in 1978.They enjoyed many years of Traveling across the U.S. and Canada by train, including several WWII Army reunions. During retirement he took more time to enjoy his golf game.

Dick is survived by his wife, Betty;daughter, Jacqueline lee Pease;son ,Richard,Jr.(Kathy);grandsons Vance(Linda)Pease and Kyle(Teresa) Pease;and three great grandchildren. His extended family includes step daughter, Patsy Orr, stepson Eddie(Rlene)Orr, and four step grandchildren.
