Lucille R. Baker left us on a sunny morning March 29, 2021 in Tacoma, WA, after 100 years. She was born on December 7, 1920 in El Paso, Texas to Manuel Ramirez and Margarita (Valedez) Ramirez. She was thrilled to make it to her 100th year. She is survived by her two sisters, Martha (Ramirez) Walker and Rose Teresa (Ramirez) Winston. Lucille was the eldest of 6 children. Her other siblings predeceased are Victor Ramirez, Margarita Ramirez, and Rudolpho Ramirez.
Lucille worked hard and put herself through nursing school and was a graduate of the Class of 1946 from Mercy College of Nursing in San Diego, CA. After she retired in 1985, she decided to back to work again as nurse for another 10 years when she retired from the San Diego County Jail in 1985.
Lucille was married to Richard G. Baker for 54 years from 1947-2001. They never had children, but they had a love for animals and provided a home for their dogs Lisa, Cocoa, Sinbad, and their cat Shadow.
Lucille enjoyed her home, gardening, sewing, cooking and travelling on golf trips with her husband. She and her husband retired to Florence, Oregon. Lucille spent her last 11 years in Tacoma, Washington.
Lucille will be laid to rest next to her husband in Florence, Oregon at Pacific Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
