Liberty Renee Laskowski

August 2, 1976 - September 6, 2020

Born Liberty Renee Wrye on August 2, 1976 in Tacoma, WA. She later changed her name to Liberty Renee Laskowski to follow her maternal Polish roots. As a child she danced at the Jan Collum School of Ballet and was a competitive ice skater.

She graduated from the University of Washington -Tacoma with a Masters Degree in Liberal Arts (Political Science focused). She started her working life at the age of 16 with Safeway, then moved on to work for Congressman Norm Dicks, Cascade Regional Blood Bank, Starbucks Corporate Office and then as an educator – in all these career moves, she has made a lot of life long friendships. Being an educator was her calling, she loved being able to teach in the schools her cousin and god children attended. She adored her kids.

All who knew her, knew she was the most selfless person you would have ever met. She “Relayed for Life” every year to raise funds to find a cure. She was also an anonymous bone marrow donor, twice. She was so attentive to everyone, taking every word spoken to her with a compassionate heart. She was everyone’s tutor, editor, comedian, and counselor. She had it all!!! Not to mention she was an avid holiday guru and loved her some Michael Buble and her Christmas chipmunk music.

Christmas was her favorite time of year, she loved her 24 days of Christmas marathon on the Hallmark Channel and loved the 24 hour marathon of the Christmas Story. She loved to Christmas bake with her god daughter and cousin. She just loved the spirit of the holidays.

In 2019, she and her mother gained full legal custody of her cousin Kaiden, who she loved immensely. Katie, Liberty and Kaiden even celebrated by going to Universal Studios last year. It was one of the happiest times of her life.

Following her Aunt Susie, Liberty was defeated by cancer on September 6, 2020, just a little over a month after her 44th birthday. She is survived by her mother (Katie Wrye), cousin (Kaiden), Uncles, Aunts, numerous cousins, her non-biological sisters and her godchildren. She is and will always be loved by so many!!!!
