James W. Wooley

June 27, 1952 - February 18, 2021

James William Wooley (69) of Belfair passed away from congestive heart failure on February 18, 2021. Jim was born June 27, 1952 in Santa Monica, CA and graduated High School from Agoura High in Agoura Hills, CA.
Jim enlisted in the USN and served on the USS Constellation and USS Blue Ridge during the Vietnam conflict and completed his service in 1980. During his time in the Navy, Jim served as a yoeman and was distinguished as Sailor of the Quarter in 1974.
Jim married Carol Wooley (Wiley) on February 14, 1981 becoming stepfather to Kelly O’Neil (Macki) and Shawn Macki (d.2000) and had daughters Jamie (1981) and Erin (1983).
Jim worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard until his retirement in 2001, as a boiler maker, nuclear inspector, and Port Operations Manager for Navy Region Northwest.
In his spare time, Jim loved to go fishing both charter and locally and devoted much of his earlier life to the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter 169 in Bremerton, WA. He was an outspoken veterans advocate and lifelong Democrat.
Jim is preceded in death by his wife Carol Wooley on March 16, 2019 and brother Jeffrey Dean Wooley, who passed away September 13, 2020 from congestive heart failure.
Jim is survived by his father, M.E. Wooley (Westlake Village, CA), his aunt Charlene Knoop (Pateros, WA), his uncle Wesley Chowen (Golden, CO), his daughters Kelly O’Neil (Belfair, WA), Jamie Wooley-Snider (Wichita, KS), Erin Novak (Belfair, WA), grandchildren Brianne DiMarco (Port Orchard, WA), Kevin O’Neil (Richland, WA), Emily Snider (Wichita, KS), Jameson Novak (Belfair, WA), Brendan Novak (Belfair, WA), and great-grandchildren Maxwell DiMarco (Port Orchard, WA) and Faith DiMarco (Port Orchard, WA).
Jim’s remains will be interred at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Auburn, WA, with his wife Carol Wooley (Wiley).
