James Espinoza Ortiz

U.S. Veteran

James Ortiz was born in California on May 18, 1953 and passed away at home on December 16, 2021.He joined the army after High School and continued to work for the government between active duty, reserves and civilian for 39 and a half years. He is survived by his loving wife Kimberly Ortiz, Daughter Tiana M Winchell (Bryan), three Sons James A Ortiz (Yvette); Mark J Ortiz (Danielle), and Justin D Hill; grand-children, Braden, Henry, Peyton, Cameron, Blake, Sasha, Marissa, Zteava and great grandchildren Kaelyn and Renly. He is also survived by Brothers Manuel (Allys), Henry, Frank (Carla), Andrew; sisters Marianne Lopez, Martha Larkin, Christina Jacobson (Britt); mother-in-Law Janet Flanigan and sister in laws, Shelly Flanigan, Shannon Flanigan, and Jill Van Doren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. He is proceeded in death by His mother Mary Aguirre and 1 sister, Kathleen Berry Ortiz. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and nephew. He loved service of his country and our freedom. His love for his job with Chinook helicopters-aviation showed throughout his life and shares that with his children and grandchildren. He loved cooking, canning his mother’s salsa, music, the solar system, Harley Davidson motorcycles, traveling, gardening and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed and always remembered for the kind, loving, respectful and helpful man that he was. Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 Southeast 240th Street; Kent, WA on February 11, 2022 at 3 pm.
