Gary P Holm

Gary Phillip Holm was born November 13, 1943, in Platteville, Wisconsin and died April 27, 2020 at age 76, at the family home from complications of Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s disease, and Coronary Artery Disease.

Born to Calvin Harold and Dorothy Pearl (Yocum) Holm, they spent Gary’s early years in Fremont, Nebraska moving to the Bremerton area in the early 50’s then to Kent, Washington where Gary graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1961. He served in the Army from August 1961 to July 1964. Gary served two apprenticeships at Boeing; one for Machinist and the second for Tool and Die Making. He attended Green River Community College, then earned a Bachelors in Education at Central Washington State College and a Master’s degree in Vocational Guidance and Counseling from Eastern Washington State College.

Gary met Deborah (McDorman) during his studies at EWSC in Cheney, Washington. They wed in April of 1974 and enjoyed 46 years of marriage. Gary and Deborah moved to the Bremerton area in January of 1977, where they raised their three sons. Gary was employed at PSNS where he worked at the Apprenticeship School as an Employee Development Specialist. He taught Basic Supervisory Training and Improving Human Effectiveness at PSNS, retiring in January 2003. Gary was an active lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge starting with DeMolay when he was a ‘teen. Gary was a Master Mason of Charleston Lodge No. 269 where he served as Master in 1987. He was also a member of Scottish Rite, Malta Commandery No. 18; Knights Templar; Tahoma York Rite College No. 197; Knights of the York Cross of Honor Priory No.41; and Grand Chapter Royal Arch Olympus Chapter No.27. In retirement, Gary and Debbie enjoyed vacations to Oregon, Hawaii, Alaska and Mexico, often including family and friends. The Holm family were members of Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church, and most recently Calvary Chapel of Silverdale.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Harold, and his mother, Dorothy Pearl Holm. He is survived by his wife, Deborah, and their three sons; Gary Phillip Holm Jr. of Issaquah, Stephen Bradley Holm, his wife Samantha and grandson, Bradley Marshall Holm of Port Orchard, and Kristian Olaf Holm of Bremerton. Gary is also survived by his brothers; James Holm and family of Lake Tapps, and Eric Holm and family of Seabeck.
