December 13, 1937 - January 5, 2022
Duane (Duey) Dryden died January 5, 2022 in Tacoma, WA, at the age of 84. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Duane F. and Evelyn H. Dryden. He moved to Tacoma as a small child, and graduated from Stadium High School in 1956.
Duey is survived by his wife, Linda Bell, son Dennis (Jeannine), son Philip (Aimee), step-daughter Alicia Bell, grandchildren Christine, Sam, Deven, and Kylee, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, and son, Donald (Deborah).
His career focused on the building trades. He could build/fix anything, and had the right tool for each task! He taught HVAC at Clover Park and retired from his pool maintenance business.
He loved boating, built his first boat in the garage as a teenager. After studying boat building at Bates Technical School, he later built his prized ocean racing speed boat. He loved cruising Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands, and was a former member of the Tacoma Yacht Club. He also enjoyed hiking and skiing.
He was a kind soul and would lend a hand to anyone needing help. He loved his family above all else. He will be missed by many.
At his request, there will be no formal memorial service.
