Daniel Richard Schwartz
Bremerton – Daniel Richard Schwartz, 26, of Bremerton, died May 27 of an accidental drug overdose.
He was born Dec. 17, 1994 to Rosa Solis, in Seattle, and then adopted by Helen Schwartz Sept. 29, 1995.
Cooking was Daniel’s best talent. He was naturally gifted and landed jobs at McCormick Woods Golf Course Restaurant and Silverdale Best Western restaurant. Chef Bruce Bonholzer mentored him and Daniel said he was the best teacher he could ever have.
Daniel’s musical introduction began when his mother Rosa was pregnant as she listened to music regularly. He taught himself to rap, loved a diversity of music and wore ear buds and head phones everywhere.
Danny – as he had begun to call himself recently – was passionate about being outdoors. Working outside was a long-term goal, such as being a park or forest ranger.
On and off for 6 years, he struggled with drug use but had been clean for six months when he relapsed and his body couldn’t handle the same amount of drugs and especially not the fentanyl which is cut into heroin by heroin manufacturers and, of which, most users are unaware.
Daniel is survived by his two families: his mothers Helen and Rosa, many aunts, uncles, cousins and especially his sisters Lucille, Deeann and Janey Espinoza. His favorite person, Grandpa Dick Schwartz, preceded him in death.
His memorial / celebration is Sunday, June 20, 4 pm at Lions Park on Lebo Blvd, Shelter #1, Bremerton. In keeping with Daniel’s style, wear casual clothing. And bring a lawn chair.
To honor him, buy a box of Narcan for your car. Two boxes is even better – they would have revived Daniel and others who have overdosed until 911 medics arrive.
