Carolyn Emma Rogers

July 16, 1924 - November 9, 2022

CARRIE ROGERS, AGE 98, PASSED AWAY PEACEFULLY IN HER SLEEP AT THE WEATHERLY INN IN TACOMA. SHE WAS SURROUNDED BY LOVING FAMILY AND CAREGIVERS DURING HER LAST MONTHS.

CARRIE WAS BORN TO WILLIAM AND CARRIE ALEXY IN MOUNT CLEMENS MICHIGAN.  AFTER GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL, SHE WORKED AS A TELEPHONE OPERATOR AND FOR A DENTIST. SHE MET THE LOVE OF HER LIFE, PHIL, AT A BOWLING ALLEY.  THEY WERE LATER MARRIED AND HAD 64 GLORIOUS YEARS TOGETHER.  THEY RAISED FOUR CHILDREN IN TACOMA. CARRIE MOTHERED HER KIDS FOR 15 YEARS BEFORE SHE BEGAN HER CAREER AS A REAL ESTATE SECRETARY.  SHE WORKED FOR 20 YEARS IN THAT FIELD UNTIL SHE AND PHIL RETIRED TOGETHER. THE TWO OF THEM TRAVELED, WORSHIPED IN CHURCH, SANG IN THE CHURCH CHOIR, AND BOWLED. THEY ENJOYED GARDENING AND WALKING TOGETHER.  GOING TO WORK OUT AT THE YMCA THREE TIMES A WEEK WAS THEIR SOCIAL ACTIVITY. CARRIE ALSO LOVED TO GET TOGETHER WITH HER BUNCO CLUB ONCE A MONTH. CARRIE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN HER CHURCH.  SHE WAS A LONG-TIME MEMBER OF THE CHOIR, AND BELONGED TO SEVERAL WOMENS CLUBS SUCH AS LUTHERAN WOMENS MISSONARY LEAGUE AND LADIES GUILD.

CARRIE WAS SUCH A FUN-LOVING, WITTY LADY AND WAS ADMIRED BY HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. SHE WOULD SAY THAT SHE JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO BE HAPPY AND BEING AROUND HER DID JUST THAT. SHE LOVED TO BAKE AND SHE KEPT A VERY TIDY HOME. SHE HAD THE ABILITY TO PREDICT THE WEATHER JUST BY LOOKING TO THE WEST OVER THE OLYMPIC MOUNTAINS. OR SHE WOULD BROADCAST IN THE WINTER THAT “IT LOOKS LIKE A SNOW SKY”! HER KIDS RELIED ON THAT SECRET KNOWLEDGE. SHE AND PHIL ALSO ENJOYED SPENDING TIME WITH THEIR GRANDKIDS, WHETHER IT WAS CUDDLING WITH THEM OR WATCHING THEM PERFORM IN THEIR VARIOUS SPORTS AND MUSIC ACTIVITIES.

CARRIE WAS PREDECEASED BY HER PARENTS, HER HUSBAND PHIL, THREE SISTERS, AND ONE BROTHER.

SURVIVING MEMBERS OF CARRIE’S FAMILY INCLUDE HER FOUR KIDS AND SPOUSES: PAUL (LISA)ROGERS, CAROLEE GRENDON, TOM (PAULA)ROGERS AND PATTI (DALE)MCATEE, AND A BROTHER, BILL ALEXY.  SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY 10 GRANDCHILDREN: ADAM GRENDON, ANGELA ROGERS (JONATHAN FELFOLDI), MATTHEW (JULIE) GRENDON, BRETT ROGERS, BRAD ROGERS, WILL (JESSICA) MARTIN, ANDY (ERIN) ROGERS,  AMY WARENSKI, ALISON (CHRIS)DUESTERBECK, AND JESSICA (CAMERON) ROGERS.
