Asako Field was born November 20, 1948 in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, just north of Tokyo. She was adopted as a young child by Yonezo Takahashi, a Japan Airlines Manager, and grew up in northern Tokyo.

After graduating from cosmetology school, she moved to the port city of Yokosuka where she met RM2 Paul Field of the U.S. Navy in November of 1971. They were married in January of 1973 in Tokyo with the union producing a daughter, Sandra. Their marriage lasted 50 years.

Asako accompanied her husband on subsequent assignments in California, Japan, New York City, and Washington State.

Asako was a superb cook and quilter. She loved to invite neighbors over for dinner and sent them home with ample leftovers. Three of her recipes were printed in editions of the KCTS-TV Channel 9 cookbook. She also attended quilting shows to compare the quality of her work with the award winners.

She is survived by her husband, Paul; daughter, Sandra and her husband, Don; in-laws, Mike/Norma Damato and Thomas Hertel; and nephews, Nicholas, John, Robert, and Andrew (all of Connecticut).

Asako will be cremated. No services are planned.
